KMC's mission is to support and promote programs in K-12 schools that teach students conflict management skills to enrich their lives into adulthood. Our vision is to build a more harmonious society by fostering the development of tomorrow’s leaders who will choose methods of non-confrontational conflict resolution. Kids Managing Conflict, SCMA Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) and the charitable and educational arm of the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA). We are honored to be a part of SCMA which is the premier professional society for mediators in California. Kids Managing Conflict commits to the development of effective communication skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution, a necessary requirement to successfully manage the complexity of situations and relationships. Training of these communication skills should begin at an early age, ideally no later than during middle and high school development. This training gives young adults the confidence and skills to manage daily disagreements while developing resilience to recover from disputes and mend relationships. These skills can then be taken into all areas of life.
